Being the most prepared you can be for college will put you ahead straight away. Being prepared will help you to eliminate unnecessary anxiety about starting new lessons. Use the summer break to make yourself as prepared for this new chapter as possible! Here are my tips and tricks on being as prepared as can be.

Get a summer job
By working a summer job, you get to work on your social skills that may slip behind from not being at school. Working a summer job can also help you to pay for any student fees, lunches, coffee and fun activities you wish to do for a break from studying! By earning some extra cash, you can make sure you have all the necessary stationary needed for class. A summer job is also a great addition to your cv! It shows you can be hardworking and commit, two things in which universities and workplaces will adore!
Volunteer your time and help
Like working a summer job, you can also volunteer. Volunteering involves unpaid work. Although you will not be paid, it will still serve the same benefits of a summer job, including expanding social skills and looking excellent on your cv (perhaps even more so than a summer job because it shows you can be commited without being payed.). There are many different volunteer jobs you can do. I volunteer at a youth club for children with disabilities and mental health issues. We play games with the kids, strengthening their social abilties and allowing them to freely enjoy themselves whilst playing games. Other volunteer jobs include working for local charities such as in charity shops or for the local food bank. If you are an animal lover, you may consider volunteering for an animal shelter. There are numerous volunteer job options close by to you. Anyone would love to have your compassionate help! Ask around or do a quick internet search and you will be on your way!
Research your course
If you haven't already, make sure to do as much research on your course as possible! Doing research into your course will help you to know what to expect and makes sure there are no extra surprises! You may even want to do some initial studies on key terms and topics that are going to be coming up in your course. Doing this makes you seem interested and will impress your teachers. It can also help to eliminate an awkward moment if the teacher randomly picks on you for a question when you don't have your hand raised (isn't it just the worse when they do that?!).

Buy all study essentials well in advance
Buying all your study essentials early such as notebooks, folders, stationary... elimanates the risk of there not being any left if you leave it til the last week before college starts! Leaving it to right before your first day often ends in you having to settle for the ugly snot green folder and hello kitty pen set! Having stylish stationary and notebooks can help you to feel motivated to learn, motivated to even get that notebook out in the first place! Having stylish stationary does not equal spending hundreds on the latest study equipment. Although expensive gold pens may be pretty, they are by no means necessary! Coming soon will be my top picks on the best affordable staitonary for school/college/uni!
Plan outfits
Start planning your outifts now! By planning your outifts, pieces you know go well together and are stylish yet comfy can help reduce stress on those early mornings and keep you from being late! Create a pinterest board of oufit ideas that you like that you can come back to on days when you are stuck on what to wear. Remember to keep outfits symplistic, stylish and comfy. Being comfortable in class is the most important thing. Wearing extremely uncomfortable clothes will prevent you from learning and working at your best!
